STEP 2

PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION AND ANALYSIS

PROBLEM 1:

LACK OF ENGAGING INTERACTION BETWEEN TEACHERS AND STUDENTS

Usually, students who do not understand a subject that their learning will directly refer to the teacher who taught it face to face but due to the COVID-19 pandemic the opportunity to meet with the teacher becomes increasingly difficult and understand the learning that teachers taught becomes more difficult too because of lack communication and interaction between students and teachers itself.

PROBLEM 1 ANALYSIS

These challenges are related to the correct configuration of basic student privileges. For teachers without experience in conducting e-learning classes, giving privileges to students was a problematic issue. There were many difficulties related to the learners disrupting the classes by triggering unwanted actions. Such a situation not only prevented the realization of the teaching objectives but forced the teachers to look for advanced options in the e-learning environments that would allow for more control over the learners' behavior. Because of this situation, parents need to take an active role in to make sure that their children a good example environment studied at home.

PROBLEM 2:

DIFFICULTIES IN INTERNET CONNECTIONS.

“Online learning is very dependent on internet access…for instance, in my school, students are given work through Google Form or Quizizz, but not all can get access.” One of the biggest problems faced by schoolteachers are internet connection difficulties. In my experience, there will be at least one or more students that have problems with their internet, be it poor internet reception, limited internet quota or both unfortunately. And let us not forget that schoolteachers also have these difficulties. In some areas, where it is prohibited to come to the office and work, the schoolteachers have no choice but to also conduct classes from their home. Fluctuating voices during conference, random disconnection, and the latency when you speak to the microphone before your students receive it are normal occurrences. For those who cannot participate, the only thing that the schoolteachers can do is to provide learning materials, i.e., notes and lectures videos without having classes altogether. For the schoolteachers, entrusting their students to learn by themselves is quite hard, especially as it is also hard to assess their knowledge regarding the subject in matter and thus, they cannot provide the proper material for students.

PROBLEM 2 ANALYSIS

Difficulties in Internet Connections are undoubtedly one of the biggest challenges for both teachers and students. This is because, not every students/ teachers are living in an area that have good coverage of internet connections. Therefore, this became the biggest problem for teachers while Working From Home (WFH). Therefore, teachers should be well prepared, to find a suitable location with good internet connection before starting the class. Though, teachers can also prepare some pre-recorded teaching videos to ease their learning progress. Pre-recorded video can prevent teaching session getting breakdown by the poor internet connections. However, this is not 100% practical. Teachers will need to also conduct a synchronize class for students in order to let them to raise their questions. After all, teachers will also need to make sure the internet connection is good before conducting a class.

PROBLEM 3:

REQUIRED MORE TIME IN PREPARING COURSE CONTENT OR TECH TOOLS LEARNING

Teaching online courses is not the same as teaching in the classroom. In online teaching, it takes more time to prepare the course content as they have to prepare the whole subject in electronic form. They provide their content in PPT, documents, and Excel, and record their videos. It seems clear that developing online courses is more time-consuming than conducting lessons in the classroom, but the content of the online courses developed will be used in the future as well.

PROBLEM 3 ANALYSIS

This challenge relates to teachers' spending more time preparing course content or technology tools. For teachers who are not experienced in conducting e-learning classes, a lot of time is needed to create the content of the course. One of the key challenges of online teaching is deciding which tech tools and platforms to use in your classroom. Online teaching and learning tools allow instructors to engage and interact with students before, during, and after class.

PROBLEM 4:

DIMINISHED SOCIAL ASPECTS

Within the layouts of most degree programs, there are certainly many opportunities given in social interaction with peers. This can be through virtual classroom activities or even “social lounges” set outside the digital classroom. All of this is great but still not the same as physical, in-person relations. Interacting in person creates more considerable bonds, a camaraderie founded on common work and goals, and many other supportive attributes for the student. This indeed is a challenge harder to face for some than others. The adjustment can be challenging for many students in, say, a google classroom that is better suited for the face-to-face format, like those with science lab components.

PROBLEM 4 ANALYSIS

It can be easy to get frustrated due to the lack of human contact, not being able to raise concerns immediately, the absence of a teacher, only remote learning from online teaching, and an inability to discuss problems with classmates. Sometimes, the online world, no matter how enriching it may be, can become too small, and you need a physical space where you can resolve your queries and practice with real tools. If this is the problem, one solution is to foster personal interaction within the online course as much as possible. For example, you can organize webinars, group work, or forums where students can discuss and resolve their queries. These common issues are only a few that many students face during remote learning. The sudden switch to online classes and online learning has caused anxiety and raised questions among students about their academic futures. It’s easy to be concerned about your future education during this time, but it’s important to remember that you aren’t alone. COVID-19 has changed the world permanently. Although college students have been dramatically affected by this crisis, learning to be adaptable is an essential part of life.
